Goals, goals, goals
Goals, goals, goals
It is something I only started doing at the start of 2023.
And it has been a game changer for me - helping build trust and self-belief in myself.
So if you are planning on setting goals in 2024, here are my 3️⃣ tidbits for you to consider.
1. The “why” and the “how”
Behind the goals you set, there should be a why (the inspiration or motivation) and a how (the way you are going to go about it).
Elliot T. Berkman has done some great research into the neuroscience of goal setting and the two dimensions that are required, one motivational (the will) and the other cognitive (the way).
2. Set the goals
Set five goals for the year…
Then do some subtraction for me…
Pick out your top 3 goals and avoid 4 and 5! 4 and 5 are going to distract you from achieving your top 3 goals.
3. Write it down and tell someone
Writing your goals down will make it easier for you to track (an adjust if necessary) and also help you keep focused when life gets busy.
Write down those 5 goals above and remember to cross out 4 and 5!
There’s research that says if you tell someone you respect, it improves your chances that you will achieve the goal! So give someone you respect a buzz once you have locked in your goals!
Regardless, whether you meet the goal(s) or not, find fulfilment from the challenges of the climb itself, not just reaching the summit (goal(s)).
Thought Provoking Quotes on this week’s topic
Carl Jung
Your vision will become clear only when you look into your heart. Who looks outside, dreams. Who looks inside, awakens.
Jim Rohn
If you go to work on your goals, your goals will go to work on you. If you go to work on your plan, your plan will go to work on you. Whatever good things we build end up building us.
