Panel session with FlyBuys CEO, Anna Lee

Something different this week…

I am going to share someone else’s tidbits. 🤣

I appeared on a virtual panel with FlyBuys CEO, Anna Lee and to talk about our respective career paths.

It was a privilege to be invited by Haocheng (Steven) Yu to speak with over 100+ Fish Talk community members to share some tips to thrive in career and life.

Anna’s journey to the top and her tips on what qualities which she found consistently valuable, regardless of role type are definitely worth listening to. These are my 3️⃣ tidbits that I learnt from Anna:

1. 👂🏻 Empathetic Listening

Listening with empathy allows the person to feel heard. It also helps with creating stronger relationships - as I’ve said before, listening is the lifeblood of relationships.

2. Accountability

It’s important to own what you have been asked to do. With accountability comes communicating well with your team and stakeholders.

The one thing I learned from Anna during the panel session is the importance of a quick update (even if there is nothing to update) which gives the other person peace of mind.

3. 🙋🏽‍♀️🙋🏼🙋🏻‍♂️Feedback

Being vulnerable and making mistakes is OK, but learning from mistakes and seeking feedback is crucial to growth.

Feedback is a gift. If you haven’t already, check out Kim Scott’s Radical Candor framework: https://www.radicalcandor.com/

Thought Provoking Quotes on this week’s topic

Charles Swindoll

Life is 10% what happens to me and 90% of how I react to it.

Les Brown

Most people fail in life not because they aim too high and miss, but because they aim too low and hit.
