Make it your reminder to reflect on what you’ve learned, the goals you have achieved and what you still need to wrap up for the year. This year brought its share of lessons — these are my 3️⃣ tidbits on what I learnt:
1. The best results come from listening first
Listening to learn, not listening to solve like a detective consistently led to better results. Sometimes, the solution was there all along — I just needed to listen for it. The best way I have found time and time again is to stand in the other person’s shoes to understand and empathise their position - this can be challenging especially when you are busy.
2. Leaning into the discomfort = growth
Some of the hardest moments this year were also the most rewarding. Whether it was doing extra study, having projects that didn’t go to plan or embracing uncertain situations, leaning into the discomfort means letting go of your ego. Skill-stacking, resilience and personal growth are born in these moments.
3. People matter most
At the heart of every success — big or small — is having a team of people you work alongside with. Wins are always sweeter and challenging situations are much more manageable when you’re working together with people. Especially so if you have an engaged team of people that feels connected and has a sense of belonging.
